SALTWATER FLY FISHING IN KHAO LAK, THAILAND

GIANT TREVALLY FLY FISHING

Giant Trevally are famous for their spectacular surface strikes on poppers, and is one of the great saltwater fly fishing attractions. We offer two different ways to fly fish for Giant Trevally at Khao Lak. You can choose to be dropped off at one of the small islands, where you can wade in the shallow water and fly fish out to deeper water - an added bonus here is the presence of the rare Blue Trevally. Not nearly as big as its close cousin, the "GT", the Blue Trevally is one of the most beautiful fish in the ocean and a rare treat for the angler lucky enough to catch one.

Another option is to fly fish from one of our `longtail' boats. Using the boat we can get close to the rocks and reefs, so you have shorter casting distance for the GT's.

DORADO FLY FISHING

This fish have many different names. Hawaiians call it mahi mahi because of its strength. In Spanish culture, it is known as Dorado for its colorful skin. The bottom line is that no matter what you call it, it is one of the most colorful and acrobatic fish that swims in tropical and subtropical water.

The FAD's (Fish Aggeragting Devices) outside Khao Lak have created some stunning fly fishing for Dorado. It is a prime fly fishing fish for a number of reasons; they are very strong and acrobatic and they spend a lot of time around the surface and are therefore comparatively easy to reach.
